A project is a container for configurations, like the name, logo, colors and a lot more settings. Each project is connected with an evaluation key and/or one or more domains. These project configuration is loaded when your embeds are served on your website. Every organization can have multiple projects.
- You work for a publishing company which has multiple publications: Create an organization for the publishing company and one project for each publication.
Once you have created an organization, you will be prompted to create the organization's first project. Enter a colloquial name for the project, which makes it easy for you and for your customers to recognize the project. This is typically the name of your website.
We pre-configure every new project with a temporary evaluation key, so you can start creating. Pick up the evaluation key from your project and keep it for the next steps. For your own safety, evaluation keys expire after 7 days. If you need more time, just come back to your project and create a new one. You may also create an evaluation key which is valid for longer than a week, but we recommend against this because the key may accidentally stay in your project's code, where your web users may find and exploit it.
The evaluation key helps you and your team evaluate Attach embeds, add them to the development version of your website, or simply play with them on pages like CodePen. It makes your project run everywhere, even on localhost. Embeds running on an evaluation key are fully functional, but we will not share any activity in our social network.
A simple project is easiest to configure interactively. Just click through the project tabs and change the settings, then reload your development website. While an evaluation key is used, changes take effect immediately. To accept changes for your production website, you must explicitly click restart serving.
If your project is more complex or you simply love code, you can also use properties to configure your project. Code overrides the configuration you made interactively.
Consult the properties reference for all possible project configurations.
- You work for a big publication which mainly covers politics, but also has an entertainment section: Interactively configure your category for politics, then override certain pages where you set the entertainment category.
- You own a blog where each section uses a different color: Interactively configure the identity color of your blog, then override it in each section using code.
When users interact with your content, we send it to our social feed, so that more users discover your content. If you do not wish your content to be distributed, set privacy to private. Otherwise it is important that you set up to two categories and the objective, so we can tune our filters.
Consult the properties reference for all possible distribution configurations.
Remember we don't distribute any contents while you are using an evaluation key.
